Chibi’s Guide to Minecraft: Sus Stews (Rewrite)
I took down the old article on suspicious stews here so I can attempt to make an improved version of it. I sort of rushed through it and left it off at a chart from the fan wiki. While that chart is incredibly helpful, I want to take a second and try to do better. So, let’s try this again with a little more explanation instead of just throwing a chart up and calling it a night.
You may have bumped into one of these suspicious stews in a small number of places. Ruins, sunken ships, and more.
The bowl full of odd ball colors can have a wide range of effects, and that depends on the flower that was used to make it. It’s sort of like a potion with nothing but overworld ingredients and a shorter duration.
From dandelions to wither roses, each of the different types of flowers in Minecraft result in a small potion in a bowl. There are a couple flowers that make a suspicious stew and don’t do much except fill a handful of hunger. Those flowers are dandelions and orchids.
Since these stews can have the same effect as some potions, it’s a good idea to keep in mind that not all of them are necessarily positive effects. While an oxeye daisy will have a regeneration effect, lily of the valley is poisonous. Poppy flowers will give whoever consumes it a shortened version of night vision. However, an azure bluet causes temporary blindness. Any color of tulip will cause weakness, while a cornflower gives you a jump boost. An allium gives you just a couple seconds of fire resistance. To top it all off, a wither rose will have a withering effect when made into a stew.
All of these effects will only hold for a few seconds and are by no means a full proof substitute for regular potions. However, they can be helpful in creative scenarios. From giving you a short window of advantage in a pinch situation, to pranking your friends with a bowl of colorful goo.
They can be easy to make using the recipe shown earlier. However, if you want a shortcut to getting easy stews, you can feed designated flowers to a mooshroom and milk it with a bowl. You’ll get the stew of whatever flower you fed to the mooshroom as long as it’s a brown mooshroom.
Villagers can also sell suspicious stews for a single emerald per bowl. After a farmer has been leveled up to a master or expert farming level, they have a small chance of selling suspicious stews.
Now that you have this knowledge of overworld witchery, go out and have fun with it. I hope you found this helpful. Thank you for reading =P.
