Taking a step back into class with the second to last chapter of potions. Skimming over to page 33, we’ll be taking a look at the benefits of adding glowstone dust to our brews.

Not every potion that you’ll brew will be compatible with glowstone. However, it is capable of increasing the level of a wide range of potions. From Swiftness and Poison to the Turtle Master, glowstone effects these potions by strengthening its effects in exchange for a shorter duration.

For example, when we add the dust to a potion of Leaping it becomes a level two potion. This means that the jump boost will now allow you to scale two blocks of space in a single bound instead of one. However, the duration for the potion of Leaping has dropped from three minutes to one minute and thirty seconds.

To save in materials, it is possible to add glowstone dust to different potions on the same brewing stand. In this example, I’ve added potions of Swiftness, Strength, and Healing in a single brewing stand. In another, I’ve added potions of Harming, Poison, and the Turtle Master.

Only two potions were brewed individually. Those potions are the Potion of Leaping and the Potion of Regeneration.

While the benefits for glowstone come at an exchange in time, the potions that have an instantaneous effect won't see this exchange. Potions of Harming and Healing will only see a positive impact on its effects. The number of hearts taken or gained, depending on which one you upgrade, will double compared to its level one version. Harming will remove six hearts instead of three. Meanwhile, Healing grants you a total of four hearts instead of two.

You’ll notice that the glowstone dust isn't discriminatory to baneful or benefitable brews. This doesn’t mean that glowstone is compatible with every potion. There are a total of six potions that you will not be able to add glowstone to. Those potions are listed below.

Potion of Fire Resistance, Potion of Water Breathing, Potion of Night Vision, Potion of Invisibility, Potion of Slow Falling and Potion of Weakness.

These potions are only amplified through the properties of redstone dust. This is something we will cover in the sixth and final chapter of potions. I hope to see you there. Thank you for reading.
