Chibi’s Guide to Minecraft: Copy and Paste. A Helpful Trick with Maps
Anytime I load into a new world, I find my locator map to be my best friend. It may annoy others for their own reasons. However, I’ll be going over one of the many ways I’ve found maps to be helpful. Just keep in mind that I play on PlayStation, and it might not work on different editions to the game.
In these infinite worlds, I have found it really helpful to mark areas of interest on my locator maps. Bases, villages, intricate builds, etc. How do you do that? You leave a copy of the map in an item frame where your point of interest is.
These other arrows aren’t people. They’re displayed versions of the same map I have in my hand. This will only show up if it’s a copy of the original. If you make a second map of the same area, it doesn’t show. The markers will typically show up as green arrows pointing in the direction the item frame is facing.
All you need to make a copy of your map is an extra piece of paper, your map and a cartography table.
Take the piece of paper and place it in the cartography table to turn it into an empty map. Keep that map empty by putting it in an inventory slot that you don't have on hand. Place your desired map in first, then the empty map, and the result should be the original and a copy of the same map.
Once you have your copy, it’s time to put it up where it’s needed. Whether that’s in the middle of a village or near your massive build of a T-fighter. The displayed map will update the same way the on-hand copy. As long as there is a copy of that map on hand, and the others are on display via an item frame, everything will update as you progress through the map's borders.
If you’re celebrating today with a Star Wars themed Minecraft world, be sure to give this tip a try. Thank you for reading and may the fourth be with you =D.
