Chibi Builds: Village Makeover Part 4

Nightmare notes

I found a village in my designated writing world and decided to give it a makeover. Rebuilding the village one building at a time.

Last week I let my D20 decide what building I would be rebuilding. I thought it was fun, so I did it again and it decided that it was high time I just added a new building all together. I’ve done plenty of village builds before, but I don't know what kind of building to add. Back to the dice we go and this time it was a D12. The D12 landed on a fisherman's building.

This village doesn’t have any fishermen. So, this may turn out to be a great edition to the village. I started by picking an empty spot in the pathway and blowing a hole in the area for a pond. The hole ended up being too big, so I started rebuilding the area until I got my desired shape. Once it was filled with water, it was time to set up materials. They’re listed below.

Oak log, planks, stair, slab, door, trap door and fence. Cobblestone block and stair. Glass pane, chest, barrel, chain, item frame, fishing rod, and a torch.

The layout ended up a little funky, but I kept it anyways. There’s a front room with a desk area and the job block. Then, there’s the back room for storage and access to the fishing area. The little pier was added early to help me gauge where I needed to put the back door.

Once the layout for the rooms were done, I got started on the roof. It took me a few tries to get it just right. But I think I got it looking decent by the end of it.

With the hollow building ready to open or business, it came time for the interior. The front room is fitted with the fisherman job block and a chest with some upside-down desks as a desk. Lastly the trap doors on top of the chests for decoration before it was all ready to go.

I decided to throw in a sign at the front door as a sort of finishing touch. I’ve used this sort of tactic before, and I really like how it looks after building an entire street full of shops. Simply add 1 or 2 item frames to a chain and add an item that best represents the shop.

I think it turned out pretty cool. While I could have done the floor plan and foundation differently, the look turned out ok. I hope the fisherman enjoys it. Thank you for reading. I’ll see you after another roll of the dice.
